Getting everyone dressed, out the door, and looking presentable at the same time is already a major accomplishment. I’ve put together a few tips to make the actual photo session the easy part.

The goal is to coordinate, not match! Go for colors and outfits that complement each other, but not where everyone looks exactly the same. Neutrals, earthy tones, pastels, and subtle patterns photograph really beautifully, especially outdoors.
Most importantly, wear something that feels like you. You will look your best when you're comfortable and confident. Don’t wear stilettos for the first time ever, for example!
I've put together a (hopefully helpful) wardrobe guide with tips for the whole family to make planning your outfits a little easier.

Good news: No need to practice your poses or bribe your kids into perfect behavior (although I'm fully supportive of snack/toy bribery; no shame in that game).
A few tips to keep things easy:
Chase the good light. Golden hour is basically nature's Instagram filter. It's also why I might suggest a time suspiciously close to bedtime. Breathe, we will survive.
Feed everyone. Hungry kids (and husbands) aren't exactly known for their cooperation. Snacks are your friend.
Bring the essentials. Water, wipes, non-messy snacks, and comfortable shoes. You know the drill.
Embrace the chaos. Kids will run, make weird faces, and become obsessed with random sticks. I have two little ones myself, so trust me, I have seen it all.
Leave the posing to me. No need to practice your fake laugh or figure out what to do with your hands. Just let me be a lil bossy (during our shoot only, not before or after!) and you will thank me later.
Most importantly, relax and have fun! The best photos happen when you're being yourselves.

Where do sessions take place?
I shoot outdoors in Folsom and the greater Sacramento area. I have a few favorite spots, but I'm always up for somewhere new. Bonus points for pretty scenery and minimal goose poop.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
Then congratulations, you have normal children! I have two little ones myself, so I get it. We'll play, take breaks, and embrace the chaos. Sometimes those moments make the best photos!
What if it rains?
We'll reschedule! Unfortunately, controlling the weather isn't included in my photography packages.
Can we bring our dog?
Absolutely! As long as the location allows pets. And if your dog poses better than your kids, I promise not to judge.
How far in advance should we book?
A few weeks is ideal, especially for weekends and fall sessions. But last-minute openings happen, so don't be shy!
When will we get our photos?
You'll receive your edited photos in a private online gallery, ready to download and share. I'll confirm the turnaround time when you book! For most sessions, it’s within 2-3 weeks, often sooner.
Do you provide unedited photos?
Nope! Editing is part of the magic. RAW files are the ingredients and your finished gallery is the meal. Nobody wants a bag of raw potatoes for dinner. I promise you don’t either.
